Terre d’Hermès is one of the genuinely important fragrances of the last two decades — a composition that redefined what woody citrus could mean. Grapefruit and orange open with the particular brightness of mineral-tinged citrus, clean in a way that suggests stone rather than sweetness. Then the flint accord arrives: the smell of a struck match, slightly metallic, entirely unexpected and entirely right.

Vetiver and patchouli anchor the base in a dry-down that is earthy, lasting, and distinctly of the earth. Cedar extends the woody structure without softening it.
